with her son Benjamin and her friend, AJL member Elinor Grumet.

Deborah Heiligman's first teen novel INTENTIONS won the 2013 Sydney Taylor Book Award. It is a powerful portrayal of faith betrayed, and how one heals from such betrayal. In this podcast, Deborah speaks about her inspiration for the story, and the doubts she experienced as she brought it to life.

INTENTIONS is a truly outstanding story told in Deborah Heiligman's unique, inimitable voice. I couldn't put the book down until I finished it!
